Etta Banda

Etta Elizabeth Banda (* 1949 ) is a politician from Malawi .

biography

After completing her studies, she last worked as a university lecturer . In November 2000, in Geneva , she was elected Chair of the World Health Organization (WHO) Global Advisory Group on Nursery and Midwifery .

Etta Banda was elected a member of the National Assembly on May 19, 2009, where she represents the interests of the constituency of Nkhatabay-South as a member of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) . On June 17, 2009, President Bingu wa Mutharika appointed her Minister for Foreign Affairs in his cabinet. She was one of eleven ministers in Mutharika's 43-member cabinet and remained in office until 2011.
