Etz was a wasteland and part of the former municipality of Au vorm Wald in the Lower Bavarian district office of Bogen .

The place was abandoned after 1900 and before 1925, as there are no more references to the place in the census data after 1900. The location between Hasenquanten and Schafberg (Hunderdorf) can be inferred from the distance information in the census data and the settlements shown in the first recording (1808–1864) .

The place belonged to the Catholic parish Hunderdorf.
