Au vorm Wald is a village and part of the municipality of Hunderdorf in the Lower Bavarian district of Straubing-Bogen .

geography

The village of Au vorm Wald is located in the district of the same name on the eastern edge of the river floodplain of the Bogenbach and west of the State Road 2139 , about two kilometers north of Hunderdorf at an altitude of about 344  m above sea level. NHN .

history

Hofmark

The Hofmark Au vorm Wald belonged to the Mitterfels district court . The lords of the Hofmark had their seat in Au vorm Wald Castle .

Former parish

The municipality with the districts Au vorm Wald, Brandstatt , Etz , Hasenquanten and Schafberg emerged from the Hofmark of the same name . In 1946 the community lost its independence and was incorporated into Steinburg .

Au Castle in front of the forest

Au vorm Wald Castle is a late Gothic former moated castle complex from the 16th and 17th centuries. Century with the catholic castle chapel St. Valentin. Parts of the complex were used as a school until 1959.
