Euagoras II
Euagoras II. , Ancient Greek Εὐαγόρας , also Evagoras , was (since before 360 BC) king of the ancient city-state of Salamis in Cyprus and Persian satrap .
Euagoras was probably a son of Nicocles and a grandson of Euagoras I. He was a Persian-friendly politician, which is why he was around 360 BC. Was overthrown by rebellious Cypriots under the leadership of his half-nephew and later successor Pnytagoras and driven from the island. In return, Euagoras received royal rule over Phoenician Sidon from the Persians : however, because of his incompetence, he was chased from office and fled back to Cyprus, where he was captured and executed.
