Eucharistic Sisters
The Eucharist Sisters , also Eucharistinnen , actually Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Eucharist of Litomerice , just Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy. Eucharist , Latin Congregatio Sanctae Sororum Eucharistiae , religious symbol CSSE , are a small Roman Catholic women's orders . They are based in the Herrnau monastery in the city of Salzburg .
History of the Order
The founder of the congregation was Countess Ada Chotek, then Sr. Maria Annuntiata (1890–1939), who attended the school at the Sacré Coeur Riedenburg in Bregenz. Her father Karl Maria Paul Anton Boguslaw Chotek von Chotkow and Wognin (1853–1926) was a cousin of Sophie Chotek, Princess von Hohenberg , the wife of the Austrian heir to the throne Franz Ferdinand . In 1930 she founded a women's community in Velké Březno (formerly Großpriesen, now the Czech Republic) in northern Bohemia. She was supported in this by the then well-known Jesuit priest Karl Maria von Andlau (1865-1935). In the book “Answer of Love, Life and Work of Mother Maria Annuntiata Chotek” (House Königstein Institute for Church History of Bohemia-Moravia-Silesia, 1997) the author Rudolf Grulich sees in Father Andlau “almost a co-founder of the congregation, since he promoted with sacrificial love the work, the founder of the rich treasure of his experience side stood and helped overcome some difficulties. " In 1937 these as the Congregation of the sisters of the Holy Eucharist of Litomerice ( Litoměřice , seat of the diocese of Litomerice ) approved .
After the Second World War, the order had to leave Czechoslovakia in 1946 , and the then Archbishop of Salzburg Andreas Rohracher gave them refuge. After a few stops in between, the Eucharist Sisters settled in the chapel house of the diocese of Salzburg at Sigmund-Haffner-Gasse 20 in 1948 .
From 1957 to 1961 the divine settlement of St. Erentrudis in Herrnau in Salzburg, with which the order received a new monastery building with a chapel. According to the plans of Robert Kramreiter and the paintings of Max Weiler , it is an important monument.
Religious life
The Eucharistic Sisters have worked in pastoral care and charitable service "on the dirty village street" since their foundation. After the 2nd Vatican Council , the directions (statutes) of the religious community were redesigned in the sense of the council decree Perfectae caritatis “On the contemporary renewal of religious life”.
Today the Eucharists are active in the parishes of Liefering , Puch near Hallein , Rif (near Hallein) and Waidring (in Triol) and provide pastoral care, bereavement support and help for the sick. In addition to life as a religious sister - monastic or at the parish - the community also operates a more open community of bread and life . and - revived in 1989 - the Eucharistic Community of Prayer .
