Eugène Cortambert

Pierre-François Eugène Cortambert (born October 12, 1805 in Toulouse , † March 5, 1881 in Paris ) was a French librarian and geographer.

Cortambert worked as a librarian in the map department of the Bibliothèque nationale de France in Paris and was general secretary of the Société de Géographie . By publishing maps and series works, he succeeded in making geographical contexts understandable to a broader public.

Today a street in the 16th arrondissement of Paris commemorates him.
