Eugène Pottier
Eugène Edine Pottier (born October 4, 1816 in Paris , † November 6, 1887 there ) became known as the lyricist of the international anthem of the labor movement and communism , the International .
Life
Pottier was a French communist , transport worker and a member of the Paris Commune from March to May 1871 . Based on the commune experience, he wrote the text of the anthem of the communist movement: The International .
During the cruel suppression of the commune, he managed to escape. He emigrated to the USA . In 1880 he was pardoned and was able to return to France .
Pottier died in November 1887, was on the cemetery Pere Lachaise buried in Paris.
