Eugen Merkle (life dates unknown) was a German football player.
Career
Merkle belonged from 1902 bis 1909 the FC Stuttgart Cickers as a right winger in for which he in the South German association football clubs organized championships in the district of Württemberg , from the following season in Gau Schwaben denied in the regional highest each league point games. During his club membership he won eight regional championships with the team, including the South German championship in his penultimate season for the club. With this success he was qualified as a participant in the final round of the German championship . With the team he reached the final against BTuFC Viktoria 89 , which was scheduled in Berlin on June 7, 1908 , after he had played all three final round matches and the repeat game against Freiburg FC , which had been won 5: 2 - the match had previously been canceled; he succeeded with the hit to the final score in the 87th minute his only goal.
