Eugen von Friedenfels

Eugen Drotleff von Friedenfels , from 1854 Freiherr Drotleff von Friedenfels (born December 23, 1819 in Sibiu , † January 31, 1885 in Vienna ), was a Transylvanian administrative officer and historian .

Life

Friedenfels lost his father, an official, when he was two years old. The later privy councilor Joseph Bedeus Freiherr von Scharberg became his stepfather and educator. In 1827 he came to Vienna. There he attended grammar school until 1837. He then went to the University of Cluj-Napoca , where he studied law . In 1839 he became a civil servant at the Gubernium of Transylvania. In 1844 he moved to the royal Transylvanian court chancellery as a concept clerk and in 1848 became a member of the Hungarian state parliament for his home country .

Friedenfels was later appointed governor's council in Ödenburg and then court advisor to the governor's in Großwardein and Ofen . At the end of his career he was employed in the Ministry of the Interior and Ministerialrat. For a time he was head of the press department. In 1854 he was elevated to the status of a baron and in 1864 awarded the Austrian-Imperial Leopold Order by the Kaiser . In 1867 he retired .
