Eugene Figg
Eugene Figg (born August 4, 1930 in Charleston (South Carolina) , † March 20, 2002 in Tallahassee ) was an American civil engineer.
Figg graduated from The Citadel in Charleston as a civil engineer in 1958 .
In 1978 he founded Figg and Muller Engineers with Jean M. Muller . They transferred Muller's experience with modern bridge construction methods from France and Europe (such as concrete segment bridges) to the USA. In 1988 he became the sole owner of Figg Bridge Design in Tallahassee.
Her bridge designs include the Sunshine Skyway Bridge , the Seven Mile Bridge in the Florida Keys , the Linn Cove Viaduct, and the Natchez Trace Parkway Arches .
In 1989 he founded the American Segmental Bridge Institute. He was a member of the National Academy of Engineering . In 2000 he received the John A. Roebling Award from the International Bridge Conference of the ESWP (Engineers Society of Western Pennsylvania).
