Eugene Kevin Scallan

Eugene Kevin Scallan (* 1893 ; † 1966 ) was a South African ambassador .

Life

Eugene Kevin Scallan studied at St. Henry's Marist Brothers' College, Bachiller at the University of Cape Town , at the Transvaal School of Mines at the Witwatersrand University , University of Pretoria was a postal clerk in 1909 and worked in the tax office from 1918, was envoy of the Union of South Africa in 1948 Rio de Janeiro.

In 1921 he joined the foreign service. From 1929 to 1934 he was accredited in Washington, DC. From 1934 to 1935 he was Chargé d'affaires in Lisbon. In 1936 he was accredited in Rome. From 1936 to 1938 he was the political secretary of the embassy in London. At the coronation of George VI. (United Kingdom) it was part of the staffage . From 1939 to 1943 he was Consul General in Lourenco Marques . From 1943 to 1948 he was Deputy High Commissioner of the Union of South Africa in London. From 1948 to 1951 he was envoy to Brazil. From 1951 to 1953 he was envoy to Argentina and Chile.
