Eugenio Canfari (born October 16, 1878 in Genoa , † March 23, 1962 in Turin ) was an Italian football official and entrepreneur .

Life

Eugenio Canfari was born in Genoa on October 16, 1878 . His father later owned a bicycle shop in Turin . In 1897 Canfari and his older brother Enrico belonged to the group of 13 students from the Turin Massimo d'Azeglio high school that founded the Juventus Turin football club on November 1, 1897 . The first seat of the club was the father's bicycle shop on Corso Re Umberto 42 . Eugenio Canfari was elected the club's first president and held this post until his brother's replacement in 1898.

He then retired from football and founded the automobile manufacturer Società fabbrica di automobili Taurinia in Turin in 1902 together with Giuseppe Alby and Francesco Darbesio , which existed until 1907, and for which he also competed in automobile races.

Eugenio Canfari died in Turin on March 23, 1962 at the age of 83.
