Euphorbia analalavensis is a species of the genus spurge ( Euphorbia ) in the family of Euphorbiaceae (Euphorbiaceae).
description
The succulent Euphorbia analalavensis forms trees or bushes up to 5 meters high. The shoots standing in whorls are divided into individual pieces and are up to 15 centimeters long and 4 millimeters thick. They have almost flattened tips and are bright green in color. The linear and sessile leaves are up to 16 millimeters long and 4 millimeters wide. They are short-lived.
The cymen arise at the shoot tips. There are long hairs on the edge of the bracts. The almost sedentary and unisexual cyathia reach about 5 millimeters in diameter. The elliptical nectar glands are yellowish in color. The spherical and almost sessile ovary becomes about 10 millimeters in diameter and is covered with hair. The fruit and the seed are unknown.
Distribution and systematics
Euphorbia analalavensis is in North Madagascar at Analalava on weathered limestone at altitudes of 50 to 100 meters endemic spread. The species is on the IUCN Red List and is considered endangered (Vulnerable).
The species was first described in 1966 by Jacques Désiré Leandri .
