Euphorbia crispa is a species of the genus spurge ( Euphorbia ) in the family of Euphorbiaceae (Euphorbiaceae).

description

The succulent Euphorbia crispa grows as a dioecious geophyte from a bulbous root. This merges into the underground stem axis and the vegetation point is close to the ground. The lanceolate leaves are up to 5 centimeters long and 1 centimeter wide. The leaf margins are curled and the petiole is up to 5 centimeters long.

Two to five-rayed cymes are formed, which stand on a stalk up to 3.7 centimeters long. The seated bracts are obovate and up to 4.5 millimeters long and wide. The cyathia reach 6 millimeters in diameter. The elliptical nectar glands are single. The almost spherical fruit is 6 millimeters in size and is almost sitting. The egg-shaped seed is 4 millimeters in size and is unevenly covered with warts.

Distribution and systematics

Euphorbia crispa is common in the Western Cape province of South Africa.

The species was first described in 1819 as Tithymalus crispus by Adrian Hardy Haworth . Robert Sweet placed the species in the genus Euphorbia in 1826 .
