Robert Sweet (* 1783 in Cockington near Torquay , Devon (England) , † January 20, 1835 in Chelsea (London) ) was an English botanist . Its official botanical author's abbreviation is " Sweet ".

The plant genus Sweetia Spreng. from the legume family (Fabaceae) has been named after him.
