Euphorbia darbandensis is a species of the genus spurge ( Euphorbia ) in the family of Euphorbiaceae (Euphorbiaceae).
description
The succulent Euphorbia darbandensis forms only slightly branched, small shrubs that reach a height of 60 centimeters. They have thickened and woody roots. The stalk-round shoots are 4 to 5 centimeters thick and are covered with warts that stand in spiral rows. The thorn shields are circular in shape and the thorns are up to 15 millimeters long. The linear leaves are up to 8 centimeters long or even longer. They arise from new shoots and are long-lived.
Single and simple cymes are formed, which are located on stems up to 2.5 millimeters long. The cyathia reach a diameter of about 4.5 millimeters. The elongated nectar glands butt against each other. The ovary stands on a stalk that is up to 1 centimeter long and bent back. The bluntly lobed fruit reaches a diameter of 6 millimeters. The almost spherical seed is about 2.25 millimeters in size and has a smooth surface.
Distribution and systematics
Euphorbia darbandensis is distributed in the northwest of the Central African Republic to the northeast of Cameroon .
The species was first described in 1913 by Nicholas Edward Brown . The species is very close to Euphorbia venenifica and Euphorbia unispina .
