Eurofoam is Austrian company that flexible polyurethane foams manufactures and processed. Eurofoam was founded in 1992 as a joint venture between the Belgian Recticel SA and the Austrian Greiner AG. In April 2020, Greiner announced that it had also taken over the second half of Eurofoam, which means that Eurofoam is now wholly owned.

PU foams are required for mattresses and upholstered furniture, in the automotive industry, in technical areas, for sport and leisure, as special packaging and for soundproofing .

Eurofoam has a network of 36 production and processing companies in 11 countries in Central and Eastern Europe (as of December 2019). In 2019, the Eurofoam Group achieved a consolidated turnover of 399 million euros with 2,317 employees.

history

At the beginning of the 1950s, the foaming of individual blocks began in Germany and shortly afterwards in Austria . In 1966, a continuous foaming plant was set up in Kremsmünster . This laid the foundation for mass production and variable degrees of hardness.

In the course of the following years several plants were built and a number of branches at home and abroad were established. The parent company Greiner Holding AG, founded in 1989, formed the organizational framework for further development.

Due to the business opportunities in Eastern Europe in the course of the collapse of the Comecon and the expansion of the EU , Greiner Holding AG decided to bring its flexible foam companies into a joint venture with the Belgian Recticel SA. This 50/50 joint venture was founded in 1992 as Eurofoam and has since expanded successfully in Central and Eastern Europe with numerous subsidiaries.

At the beginning of 2014, Eurofoam (together with its competitors Vita , Carpenter and Recticel) was fined € 15 million.
