Recticel is a Belgian , listed manufacturer of products made from polyurethane foam ( flexible foam , bedding , building insulation , automotive).

Products

The company was founded by Jan-Frans Cooppal in 1778 and initially produced explosives . From 1952 the company switched to polyurethane production under license from Bayer . In 2008, Recticel had a turnover of 1.555 billion euros with over 11,000 employees in 27 countries, mainly in Europe. Registered trademarks of the company include Lattoflex and Schlaraffia. The Swiss subsidiary is Recticel Bedding AG.

According to its own information, Recticel is a leading manufacturer of polyurethane foam in Europe. The foams can be used in many ways. Recticel defines the four business areas as "flexible foams", "bedding", "insulation" and "automotive".

At the beginning of 2014, Recticel (together with its competitors Vita and Carpenter and its own joint venture Eurofoam ) was fined € 7.5 million.

Schlaraffia brand

The brand name known in Germany is "Schlaraffia". The Group's own subsidiary, Recticel Schlaf Komfort GmbH, based in Bochum, sells mattresses and bed frames under this brand, which is used exclusively in Germany . With the sale of mattresses and bed frames, Recticel made sales of € 312.6 million in 2009, with 60.9% of all mattresses sold being cold foam mattresses.

The most important market for the bedding products offered by Recticel is Germany with a share of 37.2%.
