The European Society for the History of Economic Thought (ESHET, European Society for the History of Economic Thought) is a European , economic science society that deals with the history of economic thought . The company was founded in Nice in December 1995 and Luigi L. Pasinetti was elected its first president. He was followed in 1998 by Andrew S. Skinner , 2000 Bertram Schefold , 2002 Erich W. The aim is to promote teaching and research on the history of economic thought in Europe. Before that, conferences on the history of economic thought were mostly held at the national level and there was little exchange between the different languages ​​and traditions. The society publishes papers from its conferences in special issues of the European Journal of the History of Economic Thought , founded in 1993 and published by Taylor & Francis , every two months since 2012. In 2002 the number of members had grown to over 500 people.

Every year ESHET awards science prizes for the best book, the best specialist article, the best young researcher and a prize in memory of Gilles Dostaler, who died in 2011 .
