The European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) is a multidisciplinary European society dedicated to reproductive medicine and embryology .

The company was founded on September 2, 1985 by Robert Edwards ( University of Cambridge ) and Jean Cohen ( Paris , France ) in London . The decision to found the company was already made on the III. World Congress of IVF and Embryo Transfer in Helsinki in 1984 . The company's headquarters have been in Grimbergen ( Belgium ) since 2004 . The society currently has over 5,000 members in 110 countries worldwide.

Its current chair is Anna Veiga ( Spain ). The constituent body is the annual general meeting, which elects an advisory and an executive committee, which in turn appoints an international committee for the scientific preparation of the annual meeting.

Special interest groups deal with sub-areas of reproductive medicine, such as reproductive endocrinology , ethics , andrology , psychology , endometriosis , early pregnancy , reproductive surgery , safety and quality in artificial insemination , embryology , reproductive genetics and stem cells .

There are annual conferences ( Annual Meetings held), courses, seminars and workshops. The first annual meeting took place in Bonn in 1985 . Since then, two scientists have been granted honorary membership every year . The company publishes the magazines " Human Reproduction " , " Human Reproduction Update " and "Molecular Human Reproduction" .
