Eustachius II of Harras

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Eustachius II of Harras (* around 1580 ; † February 19, 1658 ) was the son of Dietrich II of Harras zu Eichenberg and his wife Benigna from the house of the Saxons on Isseroda. As heir and court lord he sat on the manors Eichenberg near Kahla and Oßmannstedt near Weimar .

After the death of his father in 1607, Eustachius first acquired the possession of Eichenberg in the Duchy of Saxony-Altenburg . Later, when his uncle Hans Veit von Harras died in 1627, he became co-owner of the manor Oßmannstedt and thus also a vassal of the dukes of Saxe-Weimar .

As a member of the Fruit-Bringing Society , he was nicknamed "the lonely one", presumably because of his way of life as a childless bachelor. After his death, his younger brother Joachim Heinrich I von Harras († November 25, 1672) took over the property.
