Eva Viehmann , née Mierendorff (* 1980 ) is a German mathematician who works with arithmetic algebraic geometry .

Viehmann studied mathematics from 1998 as a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation at the University of Bonn with a diploma in 2003 and a doctorate in 2005 with Michael Rapoport (dissertation: On affine Deligne-Lusztig varieties for ). She was a post-doctoral student at the University of Paris-South . From 2006 to 2012 she was a research assistant at the University of Bonn (from 2007 as a temporary academic advisor ), where she qualified as a professor in 2010. In 2011/12 she was a Heisenberg fellow and in 2008 at the University of Chicago . In 2012 she became Professor of Algebra at the Technical University of Munich .

It deals with Shimura varieties and the Langlands program .

She is invited to speak at the International Congress of Mathematicians 2018 in Rio de Janeiro (Moduli spaces of local G-shtukas). She is a member of the Young Academy of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and the Leopoldina . In 2011 she received an ERC Starting Grant. In 2012 she received the Von Kaven Prize . In 2005 she received the Felix Hausdorff Memorial Prize from the University of Bonn.
