Evan Williams (entrepreneur)
Evan Williams (born March 31, 1972 in Clarks , Nebraska ) is an American entrepreneur who has founded several Internet companies.
Williams founded in 1999 together with Meg Hourihan the company Pyra Labs , where he developed among others the successful website Blogger.com . On February 17, 2003, Pyra Labs was sold to Google . Williams then worked for Google until October 2004.
Together with Biz Stone and Jack Dorsey , he developed the software Twitter and founded the company of the same name in April 2007. In October 2010 he announced that the previous COO Dick Costolo would succeed him as CEO .
He then founded Medium.com , which went online in August 2012. In early 2017, he expressed his dissatisfaction with advertising as the sole source of income for online publications.
