The Trinitatiskirche is a church building in the Leipzig district of Anger-Crottendorf .

history

In 1885, Anger-Crottendorf and Neusellerhausen had 6236 Evangelical Lutheran residents. In 1889 Anger-Crottendorf became an independent district of the Parish of Schönefeld . The service took place in the prayer room of the 2nd district school in Leipzig on Martinstrasse. Since then a clergyman from the parish of Schönefeld had a residence in Anger-Crottendorf. In 1890 there were 10,318 parishioners in the parish.

In 1891 a cross-shaped half-timbered building according to plans by Paul Lange was inaugurated as an interim church , which was popularly known as the “wooden cathedral”. Anger-Crottendorf formed an independent parish from 1892 and thus left the parish of Schönefeld. In 1895 the church of the community was named Trinity Church.

The interim church was destroyed during the air raid on December 4, 1943 . In 1949 a new building of the church began, which was consecrated on June 4, 1950 on Trinity . The church is one of the 43 emergency churches built in Germany (originally 48 were planned), which were built after the Second World War based on a design by Otto Bartning .
