Evangelical Church Dorndorf
The Evangelical Lutheran Church Dorndorf is a village church in the Dorndorf district of the Krayenberg community in the Wartburg district in Thuringia . Your parish belongs to the parish of Bad Salzungen-Dermbach in the Provostspengel Meiningen-Suhl of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .
Building history
The originally Romanesque church was built in 1150 , as the year on the entrance portal of the tower shows. During the Thirty Years War the building was looted and burned down in 1634. In the years 1727/28 the nave was rebuilt in baroque style, the sacristy dates from 1772.
inner space
The two-storey galleries run along three walls of the church, they bear the year 1748. A painting in the style of the peasant baroque has been preserved on the eastern gallery.
Furnishing
The canteen of the stone altar bears the year 1519 and contains a recess for a relic . The octagonal font dates from 1696, the ornaments on it were added in 1894.
