Evangelical Church in Vollmarshausen
The Evangelical Church Vollmarshausen is a parish church in Vollmarshausen , a district of the municipality Lohfelden in the district of Kassel in northern Hesse .
building
Today's hall building with west tower was designed by Daniel Engelhard and built from 1838 to 1839. The building was erected on the site of a church that was demolished at the beginning of the 19th century due to dilapidation. This previous building was built in pre-Gothic or Byzantine style and was partially Gothicized ; no picture of the building has been preserved. There was also a cemetery ring wall from the Romanesque- Gothic period with an oval shape.
The design language of the new building follows classicism , but the floor plan and tower resemble a Byzantine basilica . The building provided space for 310 men and 290 women. The altarpiece, baptismal font, bells and the chalice were taken over from the previous building. The late Gothic baptismal font with a blend of tracery is in the tower.
From 1966 to 1968 the interior was redesigned, including the cancellation of the seats according to stand and gender, as well as the installation of a new organ by the R. Böhm organ building company from Gotha .
history
The pastor of Vollmarshausen owned goods in Ochshausen in 1368, and since the church in Vollmarshausen was older, it was assumed that Ochshausen belonged to Vollmarshausen. A landgrave's castle once stood next to the church, but it was demolished by Landgrave Moritz .
In 1954 the Protestant parish of Wellerode was parish from the parish of Vollmarshausen.
