The Evans Lake is an irregularly shaped and relatively deep lake in Georgia . In the north of the Thatcher Peninsula , it is east of Poa Cove .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1991 after the limnologist John Cynan Ellis-Evans of the British Antarctic Survey , who worked several times on South Georgia and Signy Island .
