The Poa Cove is a small cove on the north coast of South Georgia . It is located 1.3 km southwest of Mai Point on the southeast side of Maiviken Bay in Cumberland Bay .
Participants in the Swedish Antarctic Expedition (1901–1903) led by polar explorer Otto Nordenskjöld carried out a rough mapping . New measurements were made in 1929 by participants in the British Discovery Investigations and in 1951 by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey . The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named the bay after sweet grasses of the genus bluegrass ( Poa ), which includes the tussock grass that is widespread around the bay .
