The Evans Point is an ice-covered headland on the south coast of Thurston Island before Eights Coast of the West Antarctic Ellsworthlands . It protrudes 24 km west-northwest of Von der Wall Point in the Peacock Sound and is surrounded by the Abbot Ice Shelf .
The position of the headland was determined from aerial photographs taken in December 1946 of the US Operation Highjump (1946–1947). The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1960 after Richard Evans, oceanographer on the USCGC icebreaker Burton Island during the United States Navy's research expedition into the Bellingshausen Sea in February 1960 .
