Evelin Groß (born November 12, 1958 in Eisenach ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and was a member of the Thuringian state parliament from 1999 to 2009 and from 2012 to 2014 .

education and profession

After graduating from high school at today's Salzmanngymnasium, Evelin Groß started studying pedagogy in 1977, but had to give it up in 1978 for health reasons. Then she worked as a skilled worker as a waiter. 1981 to 1986 she studied business administration and graduated with a degree in business administration (FH).

Evelin Groß is Protestant, married and has two children.

politics

In 1982 she joined the CDU . After the fall of the Wall , she took on a number of board positions in the CDU, for example, she is the local chairman of the CDU local branch in Mechterstädt, has been the deputy district chairwoman since 1996 and has been the district chairwoman of the CDU Gotha since November 2006 and has been an assessor in the CDU state committee in Thuringia. In November 2010, she lost her position as CDU district chairwoman in a battle vote.

From 1990 to 1994 she was full-time mayor and then from 1994 to 2002 honorary mayor of the municipality of Mechterstädt . Between 1994 and 1999 she was chairman of the joint assembly of the administrative association “Hörsel” in Fröttstädt and since 1994 she has been a member of the district assembly in Gotha , where she is still the deputy chairman of the CDU parliamentary group.

In 1999 she was elected to the Thuringian state parliament as a direct candidate for the Gotha II constituency. Since 1999 she has been the deputy parliamentary group leader of the CDU in the Thuringian state parliament, member of the council of elders of the Thuringian state parliament and in the interior committee of the Thuringian state parliament. Since 2004 she has also been chairwoman of the interior committee of the Thuringian state parliament. After the state elections in 2009 , she left the state parliament because she was clearly inferior to Matthias Hey (SPD) in the direct candidacy in her constituency . Even her 10th place on the CDU state list was not enough for re-election.

On July 1, 2012, Groß moved again into the Thuringian state parliament. She replaced the resigned MP Klaus Zeh , who was elected Lord Mayor of the city of Nordhausen on May 6, 2012 . In the state elections in 2014 , she left the state parliament again, as she lost again to Matthias Hey in her constituency and her 18th place on the state list was not enough for re-election.

Groß has been the regional manager of the CDU Thuringia since January 2015 .

Since 2005 she has been a member of the Enquête Commission on sustainable administrative communities, regional and district structures in Thuringia and the reorganization of the distribution of tasks between the state and local authorities .

She volunteers for the Bodelschwingh -Hof Mechterstädt eV She has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Free State of Thuringia Foundation for Honorary Work since 2002.
