Evelyn Fischer (journalist)

Evelyn Fischer is a German journalist and has been chairwoman of the Berliner Presse Club eV since 2002. On June 17, 2009, Fischer was named a knight in the French National Order of Merit .

Fischer studied it in North Carolina, Brussels and Berlin; In 1984/85 she received a scholarship from the German Marshall Fund to study political science at Stanford University .

At RIAS Berlin, she completed an internship as a news editor before at Radio Bremen took the position of a senior political editor. In 1990 she returned to the ARD capital studio in Berlin.

From 2002 Evelyn Fischer was the director of the Berlin office of Deutsche Welle, responsible for press, communication and events. In the same year she was elected chairman of the Berlin Press Club, of which she had been an assessor for several years.

In September 2004 she founded the association “Der Wedding lives!” With the Munich history professor Michael Wolffsohn , from which a civic network developed that enables sports, cultural and educational opportunities in this “problematic neighborhood ”.

On June 17, 2009, the French Ambassador Bernard de Montferrand awarded her the insignia of a Knight in the French National Order of Merit in the French Embassy on Pariser Platz in Berlin.
