Evelyn Moriarty (born November 16, 1926 in Chicopee , Massachusetts , † May 20, 2008 in Los Angeles , California ) was the most famous light double of the film actress Marilyn Monroe .

biography

Evelyn Moriarty had worked as an extra in Hollywood since the late 1940s . Because of her rasping voice, she was rarely offered roles. As a result, she could not assert herself as a film actress. Among other things, she is briefly in the films Isn't Life Beautiful? and to see Samson and Delilah .

She was discovered by Marilyn Monroe in the film studios of 20th Century Fox in 1960 and has worked for them since then as a light double. The collaboration with Monroe related to the films Let's Do It in Love , Misfits - Not Sociable and the unfinished film Something's Got to Give . Moriarty can also be seen as a double in all three films. She was also friendly friends with the actress.

After Marilyn Monroe's death, she continued to work as a light double, mainly for the actresses Ann-Margret and Barbara Eden . As an extra she was z. B. seen in an episode of the television series Perry Mason .

In the 1990s she took part in several documentaries about Monroe, for example Marilyn Monroe - A Mortal Goddess (1996, from the Biography series ), Marilyn Monroe: The Final Days (2001) and LEGENDS Marilyn Monroe (ARD 2001).

She spent the last years of her life in a wheelchair in a Hollywood star-sponsored nursing home in Los Angeles. Marked by Parkinson's disease , she died of pneumonia . She had never given her real age. When asked, she always replied "about the same age as Marilyn".

At her own request, she was buried on May 28, 2008 like Marilyn Monroe in the Corridor of Memories in Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles.
