Evert Bastet (born May 30, 1950 in Maracaibo , Venezuela ) is a former Canadian sailor .
successes
Evert Bastet took part in the Flying Dutchman boat class three times in the Olympic Games . His Olympic debut in 1972 in Munich , he finished in 15th place, before he just missed a medal win four years later in Montreal with Hans Fogh in fourth. At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles , he and Terry McLaughlin finally finished second with 22.7 points behind the US and ahead of the British boat, with which he won the silver medal. Bastet won the title at World Championships in 1973 in Rochester with Hans Fogh and in 1980 in Malmö with Terry McLaughlin, and he also won bronze with Fogh in Weymouth in 1974 and with McLaughlin in Geelong in 1982 . In 1976 Bastet won the title at the open European championships.
In 1994 he was inducted into the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame .
