Terence "Terry" McLaughlin (born November 2, 1956 in Toronto ) is a former Canadian sailor .

successes

Terry McLaughlin took part in the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles in the Flying Dutchman boat class . Together with Evert Bastet , he finished second with 22.7 points behind the US and ahead of the British boat, with which he won the silver medal. McLaughlin and Bastet won the title at World Championships in Malmö in 1980 , and two years later they also came third in Geelong . In 2015 he won the silver medal in the boat class J / 24 at the Pan American Games in his native Toronto .

In 1983 he was the skipper of the Canadian yacht Canada I at the Louis Vuitton Cup . His father Paul McLaughlin and his brother Frank McLaughlin were also sailors, both of whom took part in the Olympic Games several times.
