Frank Joseph McLaughlin (born April 15, 1960 in Toronto ) is a former Canadian sailor .

Frank McLaughlin won his first international medal at the 1983 Pan American Games in Caracas with bronze in the 470 dinghy . He took part in a total of three Olympic Games . At the 1984 Games in Los Angeles he competed with Martin Tenhove in the 470 dinghy and took 15th place with him. Two years later they won the bronze medal at the World Championships in Rio de Janeiro . In 1988 he started in Seoul in the Olympic regatta of the Flying Dutchman boat class , which he finished with John Millen in third place. With 48.4 points they finished third behind the Danes Christian Grønborg and Jørgen Bojsen-Møller as well as Erik Bjørkum and Ole Petter Pollen from Norway. Four years later they did not get past ninth place in Barcelona with 82.7 points.

In 1988 McLaughlin graduated from the University of Toronto with a law degree . Although he still took part in the 1992 Games, he was already concentrating more on his professional career and finally ended his sailing career completely after the Games. He worked as a lawyer and became a partner at McCarthy Tetrault in Toronto in 2013 . His father Paul McLaughlin and his brother Terry McLaughlin were also sailors, both of whom took part in the Olympic Games several times. The brothers started sailing at the Royal Canadian Yacht Club .
