Ewald Joachim von Wedel

Ewald Joachim von Wedel (* 1676 ; † 1750 ) was a Prussian lawyer . He was the last president of the Stettin court, which was dissolved in 1747 .

He was a member of the original noble family von Wedel , who had lived in Western Pomerania since the 13th century . His father Heinrich Caspar von Wedel (* 1626; † 1703) was the heir to Vossberg and Freienwalde , a media town of the Wedel family, and had served as an officer in the French Guard. His mother was born from the east .

Wedel studied law at the University of Königsberg from 1695 .

He went to the Prussian judicial service. In 1714 he became court judge. In 1715 he moved to the Pomeranian government as a trainee lawyer , where he was promoted to the government council, and in 1732 to the secret council and consistorial director.

In 1740 he became 2nd President of the Court, which had been moved from Stargard to Stettin in 1739. He later became president of the court. When the Szczecin court was dissolved in 1747 - its tasks were assigned to the Pomeranian government - Wedel retired and died three years later.

He was the heir on Vossberg , where he owned the Vossberg A share, and on Mellen , where he owned the Mellen B share.

Ewald Joachim von Wedel was married to Henriette Margarethe, also born von Wedel, for the first time. After her death he married Marie Helene, née von Massow . His only son Caspar Otto von Wedel inherited after his death Vossberg A and Mellen B. His son Heinrich Kaspar von Wedel (* 1778, † 1858) became an officer and knight of the Pour le Mérite.
