history

Mellen was an old fiefdom of the noble Wedel family . At the beginning of the 14th century, the place, then called "Melne", was the seat of a branch of this family, which also owned Altenfließ and Silligsdorf .

In the 18th century, the Mellen manor was split into the larger part Mellen A and the smaller part Mellen B, which in turn belonged to several owners at times. Among the owners of Mellen A were District Administrator Curt Julius von Wedel and Chamber President Christoph Heinrich von Wedel , and among the owners of Mellen B were Court Court President Ewald Joachim von Wedel . In the 19th century both parts of the estate were reunited.

Around 1860 the feudal manor Mellen, i.e. the manor district , comprised 2932 acres of land and 148 inhabitants. 23 horses, 66 cattle and 1606 sheep were kept. In addition, there was the parish church village of Mellen, i.e. the rural rural community , with 878 acres of land and 144 inhabitants. 25 horses, 63 cattle and 451 sheep were kept here.

Until 1945 Mellen formed a rural community in the Regenwalde district of the Pomerania province . The municipality had 256 inhabitants in 1933 and 235 inhabitants in 1939. Apart from the village of Mellen itself, there were no other places to live in the community.

In 1945 Mellen came to Poland, like all of Western Pomerania. The place name was Polonized as "Mielno".
