Express AM33 is a television satellite owned by the Russian Satellite Communications Company (RSCC) based in Moscow . The launch was originally planned for September 2007 and then took place on January 28, 2008. It is the sixth satellite in the Express AM series and is said to have a 3–5 dB better reception field strength than the previous satellites. It went into operation on April 14th.
The Reshetnev Research and Production Association ( NPO PM ) satellite was built with electronic equipment from Thales Alenia Space and is intended for such tasks as digital television, telephone connections, video connections, internet and building VSAT networks. The mobile communications of the Russian President and the government, as well as customers in Siberia, the Far East and the Asia-Pacific region are to be served. The satellite carries ten C-band, 16 Ku-band and one L-band transponders with two fixed (C and Ku) and two controllable antennas (Ku).

The satellite can be received in East Asia and Australia. The transmission takes place in the C and Ku bands .
