Exsecratus was a Finnish Gothic and Melodic Death Metal band from Helsinki , which was founded in 2004 under the name Bare Eternity and split up in 2013.
history
The band was founded in early spring 2004 under the name Bare Eternity by the singer Olli Mattila. A short time later the guitarist N. Hartikainen joined them. After several line-up changes, guitarist Elias Vihma and singer Armi Päivinen were confirmed as new members in autumn. When drummer M. Niemelä joined the cast shortly after the beginning of 2005, the name was changed to Exsecratus.
In the spring, Niemelä left the group, which Hartikainen followed to do his military service. In summer and autumn the band worked on new songs. Even before the first rehearsal with the other musicians, bassist Timo Kauhajärvi was accepted as a permanent member in early 2006, before Jussi Raatikainen, Jaska Raatikainen's older brother , joined as the new drummer. After keyboardist Emmi Silvennoinen added to the line-up in spring , the two-song demo Execute , which was released in September , was played from August 19 to September 1 . In October Vihma and Päivinen left the band due to personal differences between them and the rest of the group. The very next day Leeni-Maria Hovila took over the position of singer, which was followed less than a week later by guitarist Kimi Rautiainen as the second newcomer. This was followed by further rehearsals. In early December 2006, the band held other gigs. In January 2007, a first tour through Finland was carried out together with Ensiferum , during which five days were played in five cities. Silvennoinen appeared in both bands. In March 2007, the foreign concert premiere took place in Saint Petersburg, Russia . A week later Rautiainen got out, whereupon he was replaced by Tony Hentilä a few weeks later. In May 2007 the band signed a contract with Violent Journey Records . In September the debut album Tainted Dreams was released , on which Petri Lindroos from Norther can be heard as a guest musician. In January 2008 the album was released in Japan via Spiritual Beast Records . This version includes the songs For You and Death Brings Me Joy as bonuses. In October 2009 Jenni "Luna" Saira was appointed to the post of singer. The keyboardist Anna Räisänen had previously left the group due to differences with the other members. Like Räisänen, Tony Hentilä left in 2008 and was replaced by Heikki Saari. In 2011 the album Beloved Serpent was released as a self-published album . Two years later it was dissolved.
