Extensible User Interface Protocol

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Extensible User Interface Protocol , or XUP , is a planned web standard . XUP is a SOAP -based protocol with which events can be exchanged within a user interface, the user interface being described by an XML document. The specification does not set any limits with regard to the format in which the XML file is described or which event model is used for communication via XUP. Examples of possible user interface languages used in the specification include XHTML , Wireless Markup Language, and XUL .

The XUP specification was submitted to the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) in March 2002 by consortium member MartSoft Corporation. According to the last status of 2006, the standard has the status of a note (German: Note), which means that the W3C has not developed the standard further into a recommendation , and it is only included there for informational purposes.
