Extrusion (geometry)

Extrusion referred to in the geometry of a dimension increase of an element by parallel displacement in space .

If you extrude a line or curve , you get a surface . The curve is drawn along one direction. The direction can also be described by a curve.

Extruding a surface produces a body with the cross-section of the surface. This body is a cylinder in the general sense. A prism is created by extruding a polygon (polygon) . The extrusion process plays a major role in CAD in order to create bodies from surfaces.
