Course of the road
|
The Eyre Developmental Road is a street in the southeast of the Australian state of Queensland . The road is 383 kilometers long and connects Birdsville with Cluny on Eyre Creek . It leads along the eastern border of the Simpson Desert .
course
In Birdsville, the Eyre Developmental Road forms the northern continuation of the Birdsville Track (D83). Like this one, it is unpaved and leads directly north, past the ruins of Cacoory and via Glengyle to Cluny , where it meets the Diamantina Developmental Road . On this route, the road at Lake Machattie crosses Eyre Creek , from which its name is derived. Since it is flooded in this area during heavy rainfall, there is an alternative route east of the salt lake, which leads to the Diamantina Developmental Road and thus to Cluny. There are no refueling facilities on this street.
