Eysarcoris aeneus is a bug from the family of stink bugs (Pentatomidae).
features
The bugs become 5.0 to 6.0 millimeters long. They are yellowish-brown in color and can be easily recognized by two pale spots on both corners of the base of the label ( scutellum ).
distribution and habitat
The species is distributed in Europe (with the exception of the north of the British Isles, Scandinavia and the north of Russia) and in the east via Siberia and Central Asia to China. In Germany it is common in the south, in the northwest it is absent almost everywhere and is mostly only known from older finds. In Austria the species is common and widespread. They colonize in various dry to moderately moist, open to partially shaded habitats.
Way of life
The animals are mainly found on mint family (Lamiaceae), such as Ziesten ( Stachys ). Older nymphs and adults also suckle on many other food plants. They do this predominantly on immature seeds. The wintering takes place as an imago in protected areas in the ground. Mating takes place in May and June. The females then lay irregular clutches of 10 to 20 eggs on the underside of the leaves of the food plants. The adults of the new generation appear from August, but nymphs of the old generation can still be found in large numbers in September. One generation is trained every year.
