Ezzat Abou Aouf

Ezzat Abou Aouf ( Arabic عزت أبو عوف, DMG ʿIzzat Abū ʿAuf ; * August 21, 1948 in Cairo ; † July 1, 2019 ibid) was an Egyptian actor and rock musician .

The son of an Egyptian officer attended the Egyptian Conservatory and studied medicine at Azhar University in the mid-1970s . As a student he played in various jazz bands and worked with musicians such as Omar Khairat , Yehya Khalil , Sobhy Bedeir and Omar Khorshid . In 1979 he and his sisters founded the group 4M , which was one of the most important Arab bands in the region until the 1990s.

In 1992 he made his actor debut in the film Ice Cream in Gleem , directed by Khairy Beshara . In the following years he played in more than 50 feature films and almost 80 television films and series. From 2004 to 2006 he was also co-host of the talk show Al Qahira Al Yom (Cairo today), which was the most successful talk show in the Arab world. In 2009 he was President of the 33rd Cairo International Film Festival.
