Architecture and location

The former forestry complex is not far from the Holy Cross Church . The buildings on the property are widely scattered. The area facing the street is particularly distinctive; it is completely cordoned off as a timber-framed farm building. The residential building is heavily redesigned, but its history of use makes it a dominant building in the street in terms of urban planning. At the time of its creation it is known that it must have been created in the late 18th century in connection with the expansion of the Braunschweig administration.

history

The front half-timbered house was used as a dwelling for the forester employed in the forest district in the Calvörde district . This forester (also called ducal chief forester's office Calvörde) was appointed directly by the Duchy of Braunschweig or, after the First World War , the Free State of Braunschweig . The forest district essentially consisted of the Calvörde forest , the Dorster forest , the Uthmödener Bornheide and the Bornheide. Before the 20th century, this area was also known as the Ducal Forest of Calvörde , after which it was renamed the State Forest of Calvörde . The foresters appointed had published many of their writings.
