Georg Friedrich Wilhelm Alers (* May 12, 1811 in Braunschweig , † December 31, 1891 in Helmstedt ) was a German forest expert and founder of the Clarabads in Bad Helmstedt .

Life

Georg Alers came from a Huguenot family that originally wrote des Alleurs and went back to the Croismare family . He attended high schools in Helmstedt and Braunschweig. The acquaintance with Friedrich Wilhelm Leopold Pfeil led him to Berlin for further training . After studying forest science and natural science subjects in Berlin and Tübingen , Alers went on trips before he began his first job as a district hunter in Runstedt in 1832 . Later he worked in Braunschweig, Königslutter , Stiege imHarz , Calvörde and Helmstedt. He began to publish forest science papers early on. In 1868 he invented the wing saw for value pruning without a ladder. This invention was patented in several countries and made Alers even better known than his previously published writings.

In 1869 he bought the Obere Holzmühle in the Brunnental in Bad Helmstedt . There were two springs on the property which, because of their temperature and their sulfur and iron content, were suitable for setting up a bathing establishment. The mill was rebuilt in 1871/72 to Clarabad, named after Aler's daughter.

Alers, who died highly decorated, was buried on a hill above this bath.
