The Fünf-Wunden-Weg in Zahlbach , a district of the Lower Franconian market Burkardroth in the Bavarian district of Bad Kissingen , is located in the Döllengraben corridor on the footpath between Zahlbach and the Zahlbacher Kreuzkapelle .

The Fünf-Wunden-Weg is one of the architectural monuments of Burkardroth and is registered under the number D-6-72-117-133 in the Bavarian list of monuments .

history

The Fünf-Wunden-Weg was created in 1896 on the basis of a foundation by Zahlbacher Michael Wolf (born June 20, 1866, died October 3, 1941; village name "Wölfles Michl"), son of the Zahlbach landlords Franz and Margaretha Wolf.

Michael Wolf had married Katharina Metz, born in Burkardroth, on November 16, 1886. Between 1888 and 1895 the couple had six children, all of whom died at the age of less than three weeks; The foundation was probably established in this context in 1896. Wolf commissioned the sculptor and farmer Josef Albert (1834–1900) from Römershag to create the stations .

The stations are made of sandstone ; At the fifth station, the founder Michael Wolf and the performing artist Josef Albert are noted with the year 1896.

The property in Zahlbach 33 (today Forstmeisterstraße 9), which was Wolf's parents' house and which he and his wife later lived in, was sold and demolished; in its place there is now a furniture store.

When the footpath to the Zahlbacher Kreuzkapelle was laid out, a ditch was created directly in front of the stations of the Fünf-Wunden-Weg . On this occasion, Willi Wetteskind from Zahlbach created crossings in 1988, which now enable direct access to the stations.

The five-wound path is now owned by the Burkardroth market.

Around 2010, vandalism caused damage to the stations that could be repaired a little later.
