The Principality of Krautheim was created in 1803 as one of the results of the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss . The Salm-Reifferscheidt-Bedburg house was compensated for the loss of its areas on the left bank of the Rhine through a principality formed from properties in Mainz and Würzburg . The territory of the new principality comprised the former possessions of Schöntal Abbey , the Krautheim Oberamt , the Gerlachsheim Priory and the Grünsfeld Oberamt in Würzburg . The ruling prince was Franz Wilhelm zu Salm-Reifferscheidt . After only three years, the Principality of Krautheim was mediatized by the Rheinbund act as early as 1806 and added to the Grand Duchy of Baden north of the Jagst and the Kingdom of Württemberg to the south of the Jagst .
