Oberamt Grünsfeld
The (upper) office Grünsfeld was a lower administrative unit in the Hochstift Würzburg , which had its seat in Grünsfeld , a Franconian town in what is now the Main-Tauber district ( Baden-Württemberg ).

In the early modern period , offices were a level between the municipalities and the sovereignty . The functions of administration and jurisdiction were not separated here. The office was headed by a bailiff who was appointed by the rulers. The Grünsfeld office was called the Oberamt in the 18th century. This was just a name; it was not associated with a superior position over other offices. It was also a central office , that is, a high court district.
history
In 1502 Dorothea von Rieneck submitted her property to the Würzburg Monastery in order to preserve the inheritance for her son Johann IV (1487–1531). The Bishopric practiced the advocacies and the Landgrave of Leuchtenberg were the rule Grunfeld invested . When Maximilian Adam (1621–1646) died childless, the rule Grünsfeld fell to the diocese of Würzburg, which set up the Oberamt Grünsfeld to administer this rule. The office building at Schloßstraße 9 was the seat of the bailiff .

In 1803 Grünsfeld came first to the Principality of Leiningen and then to the newly formed Principality of Krautheim as part of the secularization . With the dissolution of the Principality of Krautheim in 1806, Grünsfeld became part of the Grand Duchy of Baden .

In addition to Grünsfeld, the Oberamt Grünsfeld included the places Dittigheim , Gerchsheim , Hausen , Ilmspan , Krensheim , Paimar , Vilchband , Wittighausen and Zimmer .

The cents included the official locations except Gerchsheim, Hausen, Impfingen, Oberwittighausen, Unterwittighausen and Vilchband and also Hof Steinbach , Dittwar , Kirchheim , Schönfeld , Gissigheim , Hof Esselbrunn and Grünsfeldhausen .
The main court was held in the town hall. According to the Fackenhofen map, the place of execution was about 1700 meters northwest of the village.
Office building
The official building from 1596 (today's address: Schloßstraße 9) is a protected architectural monument and is used as a museum.
