Office Zabelstein

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Zabelstein office was an office of the Würzburg bishopric .

history

In 1303, after the Zabelstein became extinct, Zabelstein Castle fell to Würzburg. It was the core of the Würzburg exercise of power in the area and, in the context of territorialization, the basis of the newly emerging office.

In the course of the 17th century, individual places of the office were assigned to neighboring offices. So Ober- and Untersteinbach fell to the Prölsdorf office . The Zabelstein office was abolished in 1687 and the rest of its district ( Altmannsdorf , Donnersdorf , Falkenstein , Kleinrheinfeld and Wohnau ) was assigned to the Gerolzhofen office.
